Wear This Room: Pink + Yellow

Cute, classic and extremely trendy- dress up a white room with brights! Want to look even better? Well you can "wear the room" too. By dressing in your favorite colours and adding them to the room itself, you're [in a way] wearing the room. The inspiration for this look came from blogger, Fabulous K, who thought of the style to wear the room. Not only will it bring out the shine in your interiors, but you're colour will be unavoidable [and fabulous!] in your pure, white room.

Go Shopping: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

Loving it? Click "Go Shopping" below the image to shop the looks from TopshopSaks Fifth Ave and kate spade. If you're sporting this look you should be posh, proud and beautiful because it's truly a trend. And even if you have deep colors such as cobalts or greens in your home, then you can definitely match an outfit to that. Indulge in fashion and create this look. You'll have everyone loving it and it'll not only bring you brightness, but it's a confidence booster for sure.

Thanks again to Fabulous K, who really is fabulous, for the images and inspiration! Take what you've learned and apply it to your style! Fashion advice turns to dust unless it's put to use- so put your dust pan away and slip on your summer heels!
It's time to wear this room.

What's on Your Weekday Wish List? [Brights]

Throughout the week when spontaneous ideas arrive in your mind, jot them down and use the weekend to bring your creativity to life. I like to call it my weekday wish list. If you happen to be looking through a magazine, it's very convenient to cut and paste things you may like and also write down styles that you dislike to remind yourself never to wear something such as that. Weekday wish lists are all about what YOU think, because after all, you're the critic in this case. I'm making it daily routine to grab my kate spade journal and create my very own wish list of styles!
Diane Von Furstenberg DressThe Row SunglassesSplendid Striped Top,  DKNY Silk PantsZara Glitter Ballerina FlatsProenza Schouler PS1 clutch,   Zara Platforms
And they're back- well, they never went away.. Brights! Today all I had on my mind were brights, and scribbled on a page of my journal were notes on how to find your best bright, color blocking tips and the colors of the season. The brighter the better! Not only is bright beautiful in clothes, shoes and accessories [pictured above], but it looks divine when it's woven into interior styles too. It will give your home definition and at the same time it will be warm and welcoming.

But back to fashion, brighter is better! And this is especially true when dealing with more than one color. Use the color blocking skills I taught you and you'll be all set. I promise you that writing down goals, objectives and ideas will provoke you to fulfill your fashion wants and needs! Not only will it serve as a constant reminder that you want to create a new look, but it's something to look back on. And every true fashionista keeps a journal.

That's all for now. Be bright, be bold and be beautiful.

As Told By.. Club Monaco

LOVING blazers and trousers? If you're in your right mind, you answered yes. If not, learn to love them! As emerging trends of spring and summer 2011, Club Monaco Public Relations coordinator Tansu Akman-Duffy rocked the look en route to work. She's living colorfully, trendy [and classically with her Ray-Ban shades]. To get this look, read below and take notes! You'll thank me later.

Here are the 4 essentials you need to look like Akman-Duffy!

Essential #1: Navy Blazer: The navy blazer is the perfect investment piece to pull this look together, and slim you down on top while letting your palazzo pants billow in the wind.
Topshop Premium Navy Shrunken Blazer, $170, available at Topshop, 478 Broadway (between Broome and Grand streets); 212-966-9555.

Essential #2: Aviator Sunglasses: Bust out these sunnies and add a dose of cool to your look.
SLV x OC Aviators, available at Silver Lining Opticians, 92 Thompson Street (between Spring and Charlton streets); 212-274-9191.

Essential #3: Beige Clutch: Keeping in line with this look's sophistication slant, a light summer clutch in a neutral tone won't compete with a wilder pair of pants.
Lauren Merkin Clutch, $295, available at Scoop NYC, 473 Broadway #A (between Broome and Grand streets); 212-925-3539.

Essential #4: Palazzo Pants: These pants make us feel glamorous and comfy, the way good summer clothes always should. It's like wearing a skirt but...they're pants! The concentrated shot of color is so pretty, too.
TFNC Wide Leg Palazzo Pants, $64.63, available at ASOS.

Turn Up The Whites

Tan, trim and looking for trends? White is all the rage! It's sleek, it's sexy and it's in style. As the weather gets warmer and your tan gets darker, white will only look better. We've seen a lot of in Cannes this week and in the magazines. White is especially evident in this month's Vogue Russia. Model Anna Selezneva sports a white dress equipped with bright accessories for an A+ look. Take a peek for yourself! I promise you'll love it.

Love the look? If so, it's easy enough to emulate. If you can get your hands on a white dress and a few dazzling accessories to match, you can look just as fabulous. Not only is white charming and trendy, it's elegant. And when one achieves elegance, they're truly stylish. So if you want to look good and show a little class, join the white out! A great way to rock this style is also with white denim, it's very very in style right now and easy to find in the stores [as is a white dress]. Need a tip? H&M's storefront is decked out with white clothing so stop in and see what you can find. Be creative and stay stylish!

Don't settle for hot when you can be WHITE HOT.

The Wayward Girl

I'd begin to describe he beauty, but the photos speak for themselves! This photo shoot was styled around the concepts of nautical fashion. The only thing missing is an anchor and a fishing pole! Things like stripes, wedges, neutrals and blues are extremely evident within nautical styles and in these photos.

Location: Frying Pan New York

Crisp neutral jacket, bright red lipstick, black pumps and a retro pay phone- how do you say inspiration? The simplicity of the photo is the beauty of it. At a first glance, you see a model posing with a pay phone. A deeper look provides us with a visual of spring 2011 fashion: the jacket, the lipstick, the heels. And the pay phone makes the picture retro-esque and it blends into the city girl atmosphere of the photo.

Are those Louboutins we're looking at? Indeed they are! Although the magazine doesn't specify the brand of the shoes, we can sneak a peek at the signature, red Louboutin bottoms. Just what is the photo inspiring? It inspires a throwback style, something we can always wear that will be the "in" thing. A jacket with heels, red lipstick and an up-do will never die out and this photo inspires us to continue on with our seasonal trends but always remember the classics.
Always strive for style.

All American Stars and Stripes

I couldn't help but do a double take when I came across these breathtaking photos from Nasty Gal Clothing today! The American inspiration, the rustic duotone and the vintage clothing and accessories in the pictures was a huge inspiration! I began to look through other photo shoots based off of patriotic themes and these photos were by far my favorites because they're beautiful, but at the same time, edgy. When the two are done right together, a masterpiece is created. See for yourself below! You'll love what you see.

Soft, Subtle & Stylish

Along with the brights we're seeing everywhere this season, don't forget about neutrals and pastels! Pastels are known as spring/summer colors because they're subtle but at the same time vibrant. Colors have an effect on their surroundings, influencing moods and the atmosphere. Pastels [and neutrals] have a calmness and innocence about them that can bring softness not only to your fashion, but comfort to the interior of your home.
Pastel color shades are light, airy dreamy and in combination with fluid styles, create a look that is sophisticated and extremely elegant. Traditionally soft colors are the ones to stick with, don't just tone down any bright color into a pastel, make sure it will match other light colors beforehand. Fashion is never light and bouncy so take advantage of this soft statement in wearable style!
Pastels are perfect for fashion, interiors and even table top settings. The lightness of neutral hues also looks wonderful against tanned skin! And when paired with something dramatic such as black, the lightness is shadowed by the darkness of the black and it's a trend in itself. Adding prints such as soft plaids, polka dots or even faded stripes will add a visual effect to your style.
  Lighten up!

Sun Conscious

I know you've probably heard it a million times before, but protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun is crucial! UV rays can increase the rate of developing wrinkles, burn skin and ultimately result in skin cancer. All three scenarios can be prevented when precautions are taken. The best way to prevent sun damage in any way is to ALWAYS apply sunscreen [especially to your face]. When you're having fun in the sun, don't let yourself forget that sun protection is essential to your health!
Some say that there's "no such thing as a healthy tan" but a little vitamin D isn't going to kill you! It's healthy to be outside in the sun, and your skin needs sunlight. But when basking in the sun, sunscreen is your best friend. Without it, your skin is going to develop sun spots, sun damage and when burnt, your skin cells will start to take a hit. After years of not wearing sunscreen and countless sun burns, this is when melanoma starts to develop. It can develop anywhere on the body, so make sure you apply sun block to all of your exposed skin.
Did somebody say wrinkles? Yes. Wrinkles aren't supposed to appear until later in life, but if you aren't putting sun screen on your face, they're going to come knocking on your door a lot sooner. It's proven that excessive sun exposer will in fact create wrinkles such as smile lines/frown lines, forehead wrinkles and wrinkles on the sides of the eyes. It's a lot easier to take a couple minutes out of your day to apply sun screen to your face then to deal with these wrinkles a lot sooner than necessary.
Don't be oblivious to the outcomes of too much sun. It's not only harmful to your appearance, but [again] you will increase your chances of developing melanoma. Externally and internally, overexposure to the sun is extremely harmful! Wear sun screen, be safe and be sun conscious.
If you don't have your health, you don't have anything!

The Mother of All Color - DVF

And what is color blocking you may ask? It's one of this season's hottest trends! Color blocking is a technique that is used in fashion used to draw attention by placing colors in strategic areas. But don't think you can just pair any color  with your favorite, color blocking strives to resemble a classy work of art and not a crayon drawn doodle. The basic color wheel is your best friend when color blocking. The juicy lime green and pink hues of a watermelon energize a wardrobe, while sapphire, emerald and ruby jewel tones impress like a treasure chest. Take a look at DVF's commendable efforts in color blocking. Do you love it, I know I do? You be the judge!
Brighten up your wardrobe!

Beauty Secrets

Beauty isn't just found within one's clothing or fashion, but their own personal style. This may include their attitude, stress level, self esteem and also their physical beauty. To improve all of these aspects of beauty, a woman must be positive and follow some simple rules to achieve perfection! It takes patience and perseverance to be content with your beauty, but we must try and look past our imperfections and recognize the things we love about ourselves. Take the good with the bad, and search for the beauty within your imperfections. In my opinion, there is no such thing as an imperfection- it's something that has perfection, but we must search for it. Here are some secrets and tips that will help you relax, find your beauty and cherish it!

1.) Eat Right! Hydrate your skin by eating—three to five times a week—foods filled with the essential fatty acids found in walnuts, flaxseed, salmon, and olive oil.
2.) Oil Up! Moisturize cuticles with olive oil by applying a dab to each nail bed. You can also use the product in place of shaving cream, and to remove eye makeup.
3.) Take A Deep Breath! Since stress increases the body’s production of hormones that can decrease the skin’s ability to fight off acne-causing bacteria, practice stress-management techniques, like yoga, deep breathing, and meditation. This can help conditions such as acne, psoriasis, rosacea, and seborrhea.
4.) Say Sionara To Spots! To diminish age spots, pick moisturizers that contain soy, an ingredient that helps fade excess pigment.
5.) Confidence! Don't ever forget to wear your confidence. Not only will it make you feel better about yourself, but you will send out positive vibes to those around you.
6.) Beauty Sleep! Sleep is ESSENTIAL. I can't stress it enough. I know that when I don't sleep enough, I can see it in my face. Sleeping is not only necessary to be alert, but your skin will look and feel better if you sleep a decent amount of hours. It will help prevent acne and stress!
7.) Don't Touch Cigarettes With a Ten Foot Pole! Smoking is possibly the worst thing you can do for your skin. It will cause wrinkles and/or a smoker's line near your mouth. Not only is bad for you internally, but your teeth will start to turn yellow along with your fingernails and your skin won't EVER be the same.

Thank you to Real Simple Magazine for the inspiration to write about beauty and thank you for some of the tips listed above! Along with these tips, always believe in yourself because a positive attitude is much more important than any once of beauty. And together with confidence and positiveness, beauty will evolve.
Stay beautiful, become beautiful and help others find their beauty.

MAXImize Your Style

Just like history, fashion repeats itself. Look who's back! The maxi dress is here to make a statement yet again. Walking through the mall, my mother pointed to a paisley patterned maxi and told me it was "so sixties" while I thought it was "so 09". How the times change, or how the times are alike.. Regardless, the maxi is back and better than ever! Sheer, lace, sequined, patchwork- you name it, and there's a maxi dress covered with it. Dress it up with accessories and your favorite pair of pumps and you’ll be looking fresh off of the runway. The more maxi, the more style- don’t be afraid to go all out!

Maxi dresses make a statement on their own, so many accessories aren’t exactly necessary. Accessories help bring out patterns and colors, but overdoing it is never pretty. Add a trendy pair of shoes, in-style jewels, maybe even a hat and sunglasses and you’ll look fabulous. If the weather is chilly, throw on a cardigan! Don't be afraid to make this style your own, because after all, fashion is what we make it.
For all of you petites out there, you need to take precautions when wearing a maxi so you aren't swallowed up in fabric! An empire-waist style that flows away from your body with lots of ruffles is never your friend.. Stick to basic, form-fitting styles that accentuate your waist and don’t have excess fabric. You want to keep it basic, not baggy.
Don't forget to have fun with your footwear. Maxi dresses look fabulous with gladiator sandals, flip flops, wedges or high heeled sandals. Because maxi dresses are a summery piece, they don't look best worn with closed toed shoes. For a comfortable and easy look, wear flats! This will also work if you're tall. If you’re on the shorter side, go for the highest sandals you can find to add height [no one will see them under your dress so size it up!] Do your thing, ladies.

Minimize boring and maximize FABULOUS!

Flare Into Fashion

Now we're talking flawless! From Shop Til You Drop-Australia's April issue, this picture holds a bundle of inspiration. The flare jeans, the Hermes shoes and the classic Benz piece together what is meant by fashion. Taking the old with the new, and creating beauty.
Courtesy of Shop Til You Drop- Australia
But why flare jeans? Skinny jeans have become so common, that people are seeking an alternative style. A simple skinny jean isn't going to make a statement, whereas a flare jean, uncommon to most, will make have more of an impact on one’s outfit. Also a contributing factor in the rise of the flare, 1970s fashion influence. It seems as though 2011's fashion is reflecting on that memorable decade. Because skinnies have become such a staple in most everyone's wardrobe, the flare has come back around to "wow" us.
Don't get me wrong, skinny jeans are still just as stylish! But as they become more widespread and common, their wow factor isn't as great. New trends will come and go, but the skinny jean is a basic starter to any outfit. Whatever you do, don't put your skinny jeans away, just add some flares to your wardrobe! Flare out into new fashion and take a walk on the wild side. You never know if you’ll come back with a style you love!
Flare equals fabulous.
